Tourmalinated Quartz is another variety of transparent quartz, valued because of it's inclusions. It is a more rare member of the Included Quartz group. Tourmaline is a common accessory mineral in igneous and metamorphic rocks and can form nice crystals.

Quartz is usually included with two types of tourmaline. Iron rich schorl, which is the most abundant tourmaline. It is black and opaque, too opaque to be used as a gemstone. But it is very desirable, as an ornamental stone, when found as inclusions in quartz.

The other is elbaite which usually produces dark green tourmaline crystals. We have some very nice green cryatal specimens trapped in clear Quartz. From the Uruba mine, Aracuia, Minas Gerais,Brazil. We also have some nice specimens with blue indicolite needles. From the Sempi Mine in California.
