Galena is the only common mineral in this group. Most of the other members are very rare. The group is composed of minerals with a similar isometric structure and related chemistry. The general formula for this group is a simple two componet structure similar to the structure of halite. one componet can be lead, magnesium, bismuth, calcium, iron, manganese, palladium, platinum or antimony. The other componet can be sulfur, selenium and/or tellurium.
