"Fryite" Snake River Picture Jasper

Fryite:
Is a little known very rare picture Jasper. Foud 6 miles west of Lewiston, Idaho. Along the snake river in Garfield County, Wa. The deposit has been doug out years ago and is now on posted,
private property.

Fryite gets it's name from (Abe Fry) a man who was Lewiston Idaho's local sheriff for many years. Like allot of the other picture Jaspers. Fryite is a silicated mud. Unfortunatly Fryite wasn't solidified in very large sizes, like allot of the other picture jaspers. It came in small nodules. The above slab is an unusually large specimen. over 6" long.

As you can see this picture jasper has blue coloring which of corse is rare in Chalcedony. We have also found it to contain purple, pinks. As well as the black, browns, and tans. Allot of this material seems to have been broken and resolidified. Which produces quite unusual patterns. It is quite evident in this slab.
